Exynos 8890 Powered Clamshell from Samsung in the Works

The South Korean electronics firm Samsung haven’t yet stopped releasing the clamshell handsets in China. The company launched SM-W2016 last year, which came with a clamshell design and other high-end specs. In 2016, Samsung is working on the successor of the handset launched last year. Named SM-W2017, the clamshell handset will be launched only in China.

Exynos Clamshell

The forthcoming clamshell Samsung smartphone codenamed ‘Veyron’ will come with a clamshell layout and some exclusive specifications. Not much information is available about the alleged device yet; however, the speculations suggest that it will feature a dual 3.9-inch HD Super AMOLED display and will be fueled by Exynos 8890 SoC.

In terms of camera, the clamshell handset is said to feature a 12MP back camera and also a 5MP front-facing snapper designed specifically to click selfies.

The handset could feature the identical glass and metal design as the previously released Galaxy S7, however, it is still not sure that whether it will sport water resistance or not.

SM-W2016 was an expensive device, which means those interested in the upcoming smartphone should also expect a hefty price tag.

The information regarding this speculated clamshell handset has appeared just as Samsung has confirmed its plans for the launch of a foldable smartphone next year.

Just a day before, the Chinese company Lenovo disclosed its concept wraparound device at the Tech World event this year. Gregory Lee, Samsung’s telecommunications America President and CEO has announced that the company is also preparing itself to release a foldable handset.

Despite the fact that Lee has not revealed the internal specs of the company’s next foldable device, it is already being speculated that Samsung will launch two flexible handsets next year.
