HTC Nexus 2016 (Codenamed Marlin) spotted on Geekbench

Two latest Nexus handsets of HTC, codenamed ‘Sailfish’ and ‘Marlin’ have surfaced on the benchmarking site, the Geekbench. Nexus Marlin was spotted on Geekbench, confirming some of the previously leaked specifications of the forthcoming handset.

According to the benchmark listing, the upcoming Nexus device will feature a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display with 2560×1440p screen resolution. The handset is said to be fueled by powerful quad-core Snapdragon 820 SoC by Qualcomm, clocked at 1.6GHz. HTC Nexus Marlin will run on Android Nougat out of the box.

In terms of storage, the upcoming smartphone is expected to come with a 4GB RAM along with 32GB and 128GB storage options on board. In addition, it will also feature a fingerprint scanner on the back as well as Bottom-firing speakers.

For camera, HTC Nexus Marlin sports a 12MP back camera and an 8MP front-facing snapper designed specifically to click selfies.

Among other specifications, the benchmark listing also confirmed the existence of an USB Type C port. The handset will be backed by 3450mAh battery backup and will also sport Bluetooth 4.2.

As far as the scores of the upcoming Nexus Marlin are concerned, Geekbench 3.4.1 test shows a score of 2084 points in the single core test, while the multi-core test result shows the total of 4969 points.

Apart from Marlin, another handset named ‘Sailfish’ is also in the works. HTC Nexus Sailfish is a smaller variant of the next-gen Nexus.

As always, these Nexus devices are expected to be launched officially in during August to October.
