Motorola’s Moto 360 is not ‘just another smartwatch’

Moto 360 is arguably the most awaited Android Wear Device at the moment. It just recently came out a few days ago, although we cannot access buying it but we were lucky to get a working model to place it under review. The device didn’t disappoint and the most anticipated Android wear of the year certainly is living up to its expectations, at least it would seem that way.

Price

The list price at the time of writing is $249, sales at the moment are restricted and you can find the watch on shelves of limited retailers including reputable online stores such as BestBuy.

Moto 360 at a glance

Moto 360 has a 1.56 inch round display, like classic watches do. However do not be fooled by its simplicity as it provides a distinctive feature amongst smart watches; most of them have rectangular or other shaped displays while Moto 360’s round display offers a distinction with class.

The interface design must have required a brilliant piece of imagination. It is bright, touch sensitive and high quality. When you turn your wrist to look at the watch, it will brighten up if it was dim before. This engineering feat is quite inspiring. Most of the round screen is lit with a notification section at the bottom which would remain dark if you don’t have any notifications to show. When there are notifications everything looks great but once there are no notifications to display the small dark zone can be contrasting. It is a teeny tiny flaw but most likely Motorola will look into it as they are perfectionists.

Two things strike you most when you put Moto 360 on your wrist – its design and its size. Moto 360 has a brilliant looking metal body that’s forms bezel in two steps leading up to the glass of the interface. It has a very elegant looking strap which is thick and sturdy. The strap gives it an elegant and powerful look. In measurements Moto 360 is 46mm in diameter and 11mm deep. During our testing, wearing the Moto 360 for a few hours felt very comfortable and natural.

There are different start screens on offer. You can put a finger on the screen and hold it and different sets of skins appear. Some screens are really quite beautiful. Motorola have announced that there will also be stainless steel band available to customize the body a little bit.

Intelligence device

The Moto 360 is not just a smart watch – it is an intelligent, multipurpose and well programmed device. It connects to your Android phone via Bluetooth and can do you a world of good. It can give you from recent news to latest sports scores along with notifications and information.

Charging

Moto 360 uses wireless charging base that is built-in. All you have to do is put the smart watch on its side and it will start charging. It can also be used as an alarm clock (conventional still) while you sleep and it charges. The official docket says it can go for an entire day with a single charge remaining. The watch has battery efficiency; it goes dark when you are not using it, it uses retina censor to light up and stays dimmer unless you really start engaging it.
