Sony Xperia X Series will be the main focus till 2018, Xperia C and M Series Cancelled

Sony have already announced that the company is withdrawing its Z range of handsets in favor of the latest X series. Recently, the reports from the Asian tech media indicate that the company will also cancel its Xperia C and Xperia M range. Sony will focus on the Xperia X series, which now has appeared as the only lineup being offered by Sony till 2018.

The leaked presentation slides distinctly show that from now on, all the smartphones from Sony will be released under the X range branding. The news is quite interesting as most of the analysts had believed that the X series is merely the latest range of smartphones by Sony that will substitute the Z-series.

The first X-range model will most probably be Sony Xperia X Ultra, which had leaked over the web as Xperia C6 Ultra.

The leaked presentation slides also indicate that the company will concentrate on ‘new communications’ till 2018, incorporating intelligent IoT and cloud-centered products.

The X logo will be aggressively employed by the company in all types of advertisements and all other promotions.

Earlier this year, Sony announced three Xperia X handsets dubbed Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance at the Mobile World Congress 2016. The company has been trying to increase the profitability of its mobile section and last year, rumors about Sony exiting the smartphone market were rampant. This latest chapter appears to be the company’s reaction to the confrontation and challenges it is facing.
