Huawei has added the Lite version to the Mate 9 lineup. Mate 9 Lite joined the ranks of Mate 9, Mate 9 Porsche Design, and Mate 9 Pro. The Chinese electronics manufacturer listed the new handset on its website without organizing any special launch event.
The Mate 9 Lite will be the cheapest device in the series and will land with mid-range specs, as is evident from the name.
Huawei Mate 9 Lite features a 5.5-inches screen with 1080p resolution topped with 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, the latest Huawei device is driven by the Kirin 655 SoC with an octacore CPU. The Mate 9 Lite design includes full metal construction with a fingerprint sensor mounted on the back
The handset is powered by a 3340 mAh battery and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow topped with Huawei’s EMUI 4.1.
As far as the camera specs are concerned, Mate 9 Lite comes with an 8 MP selfie snapper and flaunts a dual rear camera setup as seen in the other Mate devices. However, the dual lens setup was downgraded to the 12 MP/2 MP arrangement. The main 12 MP lens comes with 1.25nm pixels and 0.3-secons phase detection autofocus. The Leica branded seen in the other Mates do not make an appearance in the Mate 9 Lite edition.
Huawei intends to release two editions of the handset; the 3GB/32GB version and 4GB/64GB version. Mate 9 Lite will be available in gold, gray, and silver color options. Pricing and availability information are yet to be made official.
