The smartphone will cost €399 which is by no means cheap but it does bring a very cool, gesture-based UI, open operating system, fresh color options (9 in total) and the ability to choose which apps come preinstalled which we think is pretty cool. The Jolla will sport a 4.5″ qHD (960 x 540) display, dual-core 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, LTE, expandable 16 GB storage and 8 MP camera which .

We have recently seen the results from the BrowserMark 2 benchmark test and the Jolla handset scored a higher-than-expected 1370 points. The smartphones comes with the Sailfish Browser 1, which uses the Gecko Engine 20.0, on which Firefox for mobile is based too.

According to the team who ran the benchmark test the Gecko engine isn’t particularly great in the test, so the higher than expected score indicated that the Jolla has been designed to to have a very efficient Sailfish OS.

In case you are wondering, Jolla was founded by ex Nokia staff and wants to become a successful Finnish manufactuer, we personally wish them luck as they are doing exciting things. You can check out a walkthrough video of Sailfish OS below.
