As the speculations and rumors regarding LG G Edge begin to surface, it is now being considered that Samsung might have set a new technology trend with its Edge series and other manufacturers seem to be taking cue from it.

LG G Flex lineup has introduced flexible devices which have received good reviews from clients and tech analysts alike. Now LG is considering launch of their lineup for curved-edge display. They are said to have exhibited as curved edge LG smart device to a selected few in CES 2015 event.

These rumors are supported by the fact that LG has procured Trademarks for 8 variants, all having “edge” in them. The list of trademarks includes “Super edge”, “Dual edge”, “Upper edge”, “Dual Side Edge”, “Side Edge”, “Double Edge”, “G Edge” and “Two Edge”. The names dual, double and two Edge signify that the phones might support the dual SIM technology or may be curved at two edges. While the upper edge could mean that the phone will have the curve screen wrap around top, the Super Edge could imply that all sides might be consisting of the screen wrap around the edges.

Still LG can’t or won’t be launching 8 devices with the above stated names. They most probably are still considering the final name and have trademarked the names just in case. They are juggling and experimenting with ideas. The analysts predict that LG will probably settle on Super Edge and Dual Edge.

Last year Samsung launched their first device with curved-edge concept, “Note Edge”. Now they have launched “Samsung S6 Edge” and “Samsung S6 Edge plus”.

The devices are still in the pipeline so we will probably have to wait for some months till they launch their Edge series in fall this year or spring next year.
