Microsoft Launches Lumia 950 and 950 XL

Microsoft has finally unveiled the two most awaited Smartphones of the year, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. These flagships will compete against other major devices from big names including Apple, Samsung and LG.

The Lumia 950 is available from a starting price of $549 in the US whereas Lumia 950 XL has a starting price of $649. Both devices are rumored to hit the stores in November.

Lumia 950 features a 5.2-inches AMOLED display with 2560×1440p resolution. The device will support 565ppi pixel density which will ensure crisp and clear images. On the other hand Lumia 950 XL comes with a 5.7-inches IPS display having 2560×1440p resolution and 518 ppi pixel density.

The device is driven by hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, whereas the Lumia 950 XL is powered by 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 along with 3 GB RAM. The processing capabilities of both the flagships are directed to take on the competition. It is however noticeable that OnePlus2 is also powered by processor 810 and costs much lower. On the other hand, the use of Windows 10 could be a differentiating feature for new Microsoft’s flagships.

As far as storage is concerned, both the devices come with 32 GB internal storage expandable via microSD card slot.

In terms of camera, both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL feature a 20 MP rear camera with triple LED flash capability. Both handsets will also encompass a dedicated camera button. A 5 MP front facing camera will also be included for selfie lovers.

Both the Lumia handsets include usual sensors including Ambient light, Barometer, Gyroscope, Proximity and Magnetometer.

Microsoft’s new range of smartphones comes with a 3000mAh and 3340mAh battery backup. The handsets will also include adaptive antenna technology which will ensure quality reception for users.

In terms of Software, both the devices support Windows Hello biometric system which allows users to unlock the set by biometric user authentication. The most prominent aspect though is Windows 10 Continuum, which allows you to connect your handset to a monitor and use it with a Windows 10.
