From it's huge HD screen to it's impressive internal specs, this is one of the best phones around, and it gets great cameras and loads of special features too. Think this could be your dream phone? Then check out deals on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 below.
Top End Design
This is one good looking phone. A slim line profile, sleek lines, gentle curves, and that Infinity display that wraps around the front panel all combine to make this a stunning device. There’s great hand feel here, with the Note 8 feeling robust and premium, but a glass and aluminium build makes the phone lightweight. You won’t be using this device with one hand, it’s huge, but the Note 8 is certainly a looker.
Great Performance Specs
Looks aside, the Note 8 has some seriously good internals. If you want top end performance, then you’re certainly getting it. There’s octo core processing power with two quad core processors on board (a 1.7 GHz and a 2.4 GHz model), running alongside a full 6 GB of RAM. All of this means that you’re getting super fast speeds, great responsiveness and awesome multi tasking abilities.
As a Samsung, this is obviously an Android phone, and you’ll be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Nougat is as intuitive and customisable as you’d expect to see from Android, and since Samsungs top the list for updates, you’re likely to see the Android 8.0 Oreo update soon if not immediately.
If you’re looking for the best in performance, then the Note 8 doesn’t disappoint. There’s no hint of lag, even with a half dozen apps running, and those speeds really are top notch. Even the most demanding of customers will love the Note 8.
That Infinity Display
The Note is a phablet device, meaning that its display is going to be big and a main selling point. You’re looking at a full 6.3 inches of screen space here, giving you tons of room for typing, reading and watching. This is a Samsung Infinity display as well, which curves around the front of the mobile leaving no bezels on the right and left of the screen.
Resolution wise you’re looking at 1440 x 2960 pixels (about 521 PPI). That’s not the highest resolution screen on the market, but it’s not far off. Plus, this is a Super AMOLED display as well. All in all, you’re getting crisp, clear pictures with beautiful colour reproduction, blacks are deep and whites are bright.
A screen can really make or break a phone, and the display on the Note 8 is as close to perfect as it gets. Whether you’re high end gaming or just reading an email, this screen is a real pleasure to look at.
The Cameras
As a general rule, Samsung make great cameras, and the Note 8 is a clear illustration of this. Looking at the front of the phone you’ll see an 8 MP cam, more than enough for selfies and video calling. But the real deal is at the rear of the phone.
Around at the back you’re getting a dual 26 mm, f/1.7 aperture, 12 MP camera, which is pretty impressive. That means you’re going to be getting amazing detail in your shots. You get loads of camera features too, including dual LED flash, 2x optical zoom, auto focus, simultaneous picture and video recording, panorama modes, HDR, and everything else you need.
Whether you’re an amateur or a pro photographer, the Note 8 really does allow you to get amazing pictures. And with easy to use camera software, even beginners are going to get great shots.
Extra Features
This is a premium device, so it comes with tons of special features. There are a few things that we do need to single out for attention though. You’re getting access to Bixby (Samsung’s digital assistant), and a dedicated side button will call Bixby up immediately.
You do get an S Pen stylus as well, which slides into the casing of the Note 8 to prevent loss. The S Pen is more precise than ever, and has plenty of new features such as the ability to translate, to write on a switched off screen, and to turn drawings and sketches into gifs.
Security wise there’s a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, but there’s also an iris scanner and face detection as well, so you’re looking at top end safety here. The big 3300 mAh battery promises up to 22 hours of active use. However, when you do run low on juice, the Note 8 features wireless charging.
The Bottom Line
The Note 8 has to be one of the best mobile devices around bar none. You get the choice of three models (256 GB, 128 GB, and 64 GB), but Samsung does include an SD card slot so you can add in extra memory if necessary. For those demanding users that are looking for something that’s not only powerful but also beautiful, then the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is going to be the perfect choice.
