Samsung launches the G9198 – a dual screen Flip Phone

Samsung has officially confirmed the launch of their android flip phone christened Samsung G9198.

Previously a Chinese blog had revealed the rumors of the launch of an Android Flip phone by Samsung. Now the news has been made official.

Samsung G9198 supports dual display, i.e. it has two display screens, both of which are 3.9 inches with a resolution of 768p (768 x 1,280 pixels). The phone is supporting Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor and operates Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The front display screen features a super AMOLED panel.

The phonies 4G compatible and features the high end Android specs. The power backup is provided by a 2020 mAh battery which provided extended standby support. The phone supports a 16 megapixel, LED flash rear and 5 megapixel f/1.9 front camera. Samsung G9198 comes with a 2GB RAM, which might prove a little troublesome when running processor expensive apps, 16GB internal memory which is extendable using MicroSD card.

Samsung G9198 is a revival of the old idea of Flip phones which was popular in the early 2000’s. Only this time, the phone is sleeker, smarter and has extra features which you won’t expect from a flip phone. The Chinese and Asian flip phones are still hot in the market but Samsung G9198 Flip Phone is set part form its contemporaries due to its high end specs. Though there are several models of flip phones launched by LG and Samsung, Samsung G9198 is currently the only smart Flip phone in the market.

This phone is indeed different from other flip phones launched by Samsung previously. Samsung G9198 is distinct due it specs and high end battery which is usually not the case with other Flip Phones having preeminent specs but a Mid-range battery.

Samsung is expected to launch the pricing and availability details in the ensuing months along with its release.
