Samsung Galaxy S6
The Galaxy S6 was one of the most anticipated mobile device releases of 2015. With the constant struggle of power between the top mobile producers, it is always interesting to see what steps one will take to trump the others. Now looking at what the S6 has to offer, it is easy to see that the other contenders will need to bring something substantial to the table, this is a gorgeous looking and well performing device that is packed with everything you could wish for. Take a closer look below at some of the specific features of the Samsung Galaxy S6.
Expand with all the memory you need
With other mobile producers restricting the ability to add additional memory to their handsets, Samsung set a new trend by providing you with 4 GB of internal high speed storage, but also giving you the opportunity to upgrade with additional micro SD cards, anything up to 64 GB. Although this was a feature of previous Galaxy handsets, it’s important to note as other brands will not allow this and will charge a premium for additional storage on the device.
With all these specs, what choose another handset?
The specs have had a complete overhaul from the previous versions, with bigger processing power and enhanced display technology being used. The multi-touch, gesture sensitive and full HD display operates at a massive 2560×1440 resolution which gives a super crisp and responsive display, ideal for catching that HD footage or reviewing your photographs from your high-quality camera. Rather than sticking with progression to the next Snapdragon CPU, the S6 has implemented its own CPU architecture. The OCTA-CORE 7420 chipset is a 64 bit power house of a CPU that provides multi-threading along with 8 core processing power. This leaves plenty of resource for multi-tasking and resource intensive application use on the handset.
A new design for a new world of mobile phone
Although the design of the S6 does echo some of the features of its predecessors, there are a number of improvements and ergonomically changes that make this handset all that different. Firstly, the handset is considerably thinner and with more of a tapered and rounded edging, it feels more comfortable and tactile in the hand. With a depth of only 6.8mm and a total weight of 135g, this is comfortable to carry and not a burden to hold. Good design, but we feel some features may have been borrowed from one of the other big mobile leaders! The addition of the high gloss rear panel looks amazing, when in pristine condition, but, fingerprints and scratches can easily spoil this highly polished surface.
What the camera has to offer
Photography is a key element of the release of any new handset. Being able to take high-quality images is a must and something that is being constantly developed in the mobile industry. The S6 is working to keep up in this area and so has given the imaging technology in the handset an overhaul. The device now has access to a 16 MP camera, capable of taking massive pixel density images that provide the quality level any budding photographer may require. The OIS-enhanced primary camera is said to be much better at taking low light images than it’s predecessor – so say goodbye to those misty photographs. With a 5MP front camera too, what more can you ask of the Galaxy S6?
How batter and performance on the go handles
Battery life is always a key issue with complex and feature rich mobile devices that consume energy on a constant basis. Samsung have decided to combat this consumption by adding a 4000mAh Li-Ion rechargeable unit to the handset. This provides greater standby, app use and talk time than its predecessor. So no need to worry about carrying your charging cable no matter where you are going.
All in all this is a superb mobile phone. With no real down sides to mention, there isn’t much you can’t do with this phone that you should be able to. It looks great and is responsive. We really can’t ask much more of Samsung. 8.5/10 for a superb looking, well designed and feature rich product.
