While giving an interview earlier this month, the CEO of the Canadian telecommunication and wireless equipment company, John Chen disclosed that two latest Android-based BlackBerry smartphones were in the works.

The smartphones are codenamed Hamburg and Rome. As per the leaked images, Rome features a physical keyboard, located under the screen. However, the device is not a slider; it rather follows the design of BlackBerry Passport to some extent.

Hamburg, on the other hand, does not include a physical keyboard and it appears to be a slider just like the company’s high-end debut Android smartphone dubbed Priv. The device will be 146mm long and 78mm wide. In addition, the picture also exhibits a new BlackBerry logo. Hamburg appears to be made of metal and it also includes a speaker grille beneath the screen. The Power button is visible on the left side, while all the other buttons are located on the right.

There is no information about the internal specs of the alleged devices yet. Hamburg, however, is expected to be unveiled in the second half of the current year and is speculated to come within a price bracket of $400, which apparently means that it is going to be a mid-range device. It is still not clear when the other Android device codenamed Rome will be launched.

The users interested in BlackBerry’s next Android-powered handset need to wait until the Canadian company discloses some more information about its upcoming devices.
