Lumia Camera App Works on All Windows 8.1 Devices

Microsoft is launching their latest app, Lumia Camera in their newest model Lumia 640. The app will come pre-installed in all Lumia phones to be released but interestingly it will also work on any device that has Windows 8.1 or above.

From professional photographers to beginners, the app offers some special features that are only present in a professional camera. The camera has super-fast shutter speed, starting from 0.3 second. The camera does some nifty post processing and some general filtering which results in good color and contrast in the photos.

The Lumia camera app features the following:

Moment Capture

This feature enables the users to capture those extra special but short moments which they generally end up missing. Mostly it is due to lack of enough time to enable the video setting or capturing feature if the motion is too fast. Moment Capture enables you to capture the moment in a video mode by keeping the capture button pressed. Later you can select a single image from several shots in the video. At least one image customarily ends up as the perfect one.

Rich Capture

The rich camera takes 7-8 shots in this scene mode. A person can select the shot they like best and then can alter exposure and flash settings of the picture after it has been captured.

Double images

Microsoft Lumia saves two images; one high resolution image for archiving and one for sharing.

Live Images

This option enables the users to save an image with a side car, a small video. Now, while going through old memories in gallery, there is a separate file containing a fraction of the moment the image was captured, bringing it back to life.

Lumia Camera will be featured in Lumia 532 and Lumia 435. Ultimately it will be launched in Lumia 1520, Icon, 930 and 830 handsets as well. The only downside for non native devices is that the app may crash and there is no rich capture.
