Sony and Verizon have confirmed that the Xperia Z4v will no longer be launched in US. The cancellation has been announced with the mutual consent of both the companies but none of them provided any specific reason that prompted this decision.

The announcement came through an update to the Xperia Z4v Verizon listing and stated,

“Verizon will no longer be launching Xperia Z4v, however we are committed to supporting Sony Mobile’s product portfolio and will support existing products.”

“Sony is a strategic partner as we continue having ongoing discussions together as part of our future portfolio,” the mobile carrier further added.

Unlike Sony’s PlayStation 4 console, the Smartphones don’t have a solid foothold in US market. Collaborating with Verizon was reckoned by the tech analysts as a smart move by the company to enhance its influence in the US market.

“Sony Mobile remains dedicated to the US market and aims to build a sound and stable business in this region,” the company stated in its release.

Verizon unveiled the Xperia Z4v back in June and it was considered an upgraded version of the Z4. The device comes with a Snapdragon 810 processor with wireless charging capability. It also includes a 20 MP camera and features a 5.2-inches WQHD display having 2560×1440 resolution. The handset has a built in 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.

Sony has already moved to Z5 series in the rest of the world which includes a refined camera, finger print authentication and a revolutionary sharp 4K display. The Xperia Z5 will be launched globally this October.

The news is a disappointment for Sony followers in the US. Sony Xperia Z4v was expected to be a hero gadget for Sony and it will adversely affect the electronics major in the US market.
